Sea Horses Original Framed Print
Dimensions of Sea Horses: 27 1/2” x 21 1/2”.
This is the original framed drypoint Sea Horses.
Drypoint is considered an etching process that does not use acid. Instead, the zinc or copper plate is physically carved away and manipulated. These grooves are then filled with ink and printed. Drypoint is distinguished from engraving by the distinct misty line achieved by the burr, the edge of metal thrown up on the edge of engraved lines that is left behind rather than polished away.
Etching is a printmaking process in which a zinc or copper plate is incised using acid to produce grooves that make an image. Ink is then wiped onto the plate, and then polished off, leaving ink trapped in the grooved marks only. The plate is then run with damp paper through a printing press to produce a print. Original prints are limited by the breakdown of the plate, and are considered original works of art.
All artwork has been framed by a professional MFA woodworker with high quality 1.5” light maple with non-glare plexiglass. All frames come wired and ready to hang.
